'Deed it is! I went over to the guy's house on Monday and it was love at first sight. It's been played a lot but it's really, really sound from head to toe.

And I can't believe it's mine... :)

I want to get to a confluence, but I have to admit to suffering from newbie jitters. I play mostly my own stuff and Beatles songs, and couldn't launch into "Turn, Turn, Turn" (or any other Byrds tune) if my life depended upon it. But I love this community and am eager to match real people to the usernames as soon as I can.

Congrats on scoring that Montezuma Brown listing !!!

Hey, don't worry about being a Newbie at the Mini Cons ---- its a very friendly atmosphere and you can play as much or as little as you like. And if there are three or four other guitarists playing, you can just cruise along and nobody is expecting you to play like Jimmy Page. It's a light-hearted jam.... and everybody is there to have a good time and offer encouragement ! :D :D

Michael, why don't you plan to come up to SF in July for our mini-jam confluence? It's the perfect way to meet some members and show off your new darling and see some amazing Ricks. :)

Check out our thread in the Confluences section currently. 8)

Definitely yes to toasterizing the 330. Also consider the 0.0047 cap. And for the touch of cinnamon, may I suggest you consider gold pickguards and TRC, as well as the black vintage style hex knobs. I think that would look sooooooo cool.
Expect nothing and you'll never be disappointed (and I mean that in an optimistic way).

Congrats, Michael!

As Rich and Paul said, please don't feel that you'd be out of place at one of the mini-cons. We won't make you play something you don't know!

Be advised, however, that you may be exposed to yet other models of Rickenbackers that you will find irresistible, and your RAS will be fired up even more!

BTW, I will go against the prevailing consensus of opinion and vote for toasterizing the 360. Full-width inlays plus toasters would look so cool ... IMO, of course!

I adore San Francisco and appreciate the invite -- but I'll probably get me feet wet with a more local jam first (mostly in order to acclimate my non-Rickenbacker family to the idea that daddy sometimes drives off to play his guitars in distant lands).

Yes, Gary, that is a very rational fear. If I, my checkbook, and Craig Witty's aquamarine 660/12 are ever in the same room together, my marriage is in trouble.

(I already have the knobs, Chip. I got em for my 360/12 JG VP but went back to the silver...and now they're eyeballing the MB lasciviously.)

As for the toasters...I'm not sure now. I'm loving the growl I get from the hi-gains through my AC15. I do think the 330 shape seems to lend itself more to the vintage look -- but I find myself deeply in love with that guitar (in a very unconditional way), and so if I'm in the mood to tinker, I think I'd do it to the 360.

...if I even end up keeping it. I'm not crazy about the grain on it (which is kind of plain) or the glow (which I find to be too uniform hue-wise), and I am considering actually unloading it until such time as I lay eyes on a FG with a little more F in its G.

Precisely.

Mostly, I want to buy one that I can see with my own eyes. My 360 looked really cool in its ebay pictures, and decidedly less so in person. And the pictures weren't really deceptive in any way, but there is a certain charisma that FG gives off in person that can't really be captured...
