Re: Sound clips of the '68
Thanks for the post - I liked the "both pickup" sound 100,000x better than the others.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?
Re: Sound clips of the '68
Very nice....I kinda like the fuzzy sound!
It sounds a little like:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xx7Zb7xa0RU&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xx7Zb7xa0RU&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>[/youtube]

Of course. That's one of the best videos on the web.
Re: Sound clips of the '68
Sounds great, Scott! I'm lovin that toaster on yours.
Re: Sound clips of the '68
SWEET, VERY SWEET!

Re: Sound clips of the '68
The toaster does about 90% of the sound on a 60s bass however that last magic 10% is the hardest bit to get right!teeder wrote:Sounds great, Scott! I'm lovin that toaster on yours.

The 68 here is one of the best sounding bass ever heard ... my 75 4001 sounds dead compared to it ...
Re: Sound clips of the '68
I agree! IMO, it's all about the Toaster on my '71's with a little sparkle added by the capped hi-gain.weemac wrote:The toaster does about 90% of the sound on a 60s bass however that last magic 10% is the hardest bit to get right!teeder wrote:Sounds great, Scott! I use the Bassmaster 200 also, and it is a great amp. And no, they don't make them anymore.

Not to take any thunder away from Scott's '68 and rather to compliment Scott, much of that tone comes from his playing technique. His strings, amp and settings are are also a factor there.cangaroo wrote:The 68 here is one of the best sounding bass ever heard ... my 75 4001 sounds dead compared to it ...

Re: Sound clips of the '68
Cool demo.
I'm confused though, Scott. You say that it is a stock bridge pickup, then you say it is the "later non-magnetized horseshoe pickup with the covers removed." I don't see the alnico slugs of the re-issue horseshoe pickup, so did you mean to say the stock hi-gain pickup?

Slight slip of the tongue. It probably didn't have HS on it, at least not magnetic ones. The surround is original and it has aluminum base. The cover/ shoes weren't on it when I got it.
Re: Sound clips of the '68
Wow! that toaster really sounds good. Do you have it right up next to the strings or backed down toward the body?
