Marketplace Forum Restriction For New Members
Re: Marketplace Forum Restriction For New Members
Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and am happy to read all the good info. I had a beautiful Rickenbacker bass in the eighties and loved the sound and feel. I am a short scale player so I did not play it enough, sold it for financial reasons and now sorry I did (along with my Fender six string). I am now looking for a Rickenbacker 3000 bass in good shape. I am finding it very hard to locate one. I lost the last ebay listing in the last two seconds due to inexperience, I was crushed. I basically play all orginal music and believe the 3000 will fit in well. I will not give up finding one. Can anyone help? Thank you for listening. TW

Welcome, Paul.
You likely would have better luck posting your search under the Bass section of the forum.

Re: Marketplace Forum Restriction For New Members
Hi,
I realize now that there are rules to post, and I apologize if I did something wrong. Actually I have this '67 Rickenbacker that I think to sell because it is about 20 years I am not playing it anymore. On the other side I may like to keep it for my son, he's 11 now but I am pretty sure he may appreciate it when coming of age...
I understand your approach of giving the people the time to know each other, I hope I'll be able to cope with it. On the other side I am not following the game a lot nowadays, so be patient with me, please.
Please let me know if I broke other rules, to be able to be compliant with your policies in the future.
Thanks,
Sergio

Just a small addition: I think it would be helpful if you post this rule also with general rules. I read them so this new rule got me unprepared.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Sergio: Good point. Rule posted.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Well, just real some posts, ask a few questions (replies to posts count too) and you'll be up to 30 in no time. In reality, it's pretty easy if you try...Reynman wrote:Interesting rule...i have been on the gear page since inception and i only have 25 posts...oh well.
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

Re: Marketplace Forum Restriction For New Members
Just want to say - I'm a new member and wanted to join to hope to buy my first rickenbacker. But I have to post 30 times? What if I haven't got 30 things to say right now?
I get the sense that this post will be deleted and my membership deactivated for saying that's a confusing rule that I just don't understand. I'm not a habitual forum poster - once in every great while for other forums I belong to (bands, scooters etc) so I guess my reason for joining is self cancelling.

Oh, I don't know, Mark..... Thirty posts? Two a day....about 2 weeks, you'll be there. Why if you look at my average it's something like 2.75 a day. Stick around. This is one of the best places if not the best place on the web. Poke around on some of the band subforums, or the repair and restoration forums. Something is bound to interest you.

First welcome.
secondlyl, its really not that difficult to get to 30 posts.
Thirdly, your post will likely stay there there indefinately.
Finally, correct me if I'm wrong, but this forum isn't really about selling, buying and trading gear ( although it does happen) The people here are freindly and will be glad to do what they can to help hook you up with a Ric, but try not to be so negative about it.
Anyone have any advice?

Welcome Mark,
As you can see - your post survived as is.
The idea is to have the marketplace available only for the community, other music forums require many more posts or even payment!
I hope to see you around more.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

Welcome, Mark! I do hope that you stick around! This Forum, and the members that comprise it, are like no other.
For posts, the following come to my mind:
- you could state what model your are looking to buy
- if you aren't sure what model you want, ask questions or ask for recommendations
- if you want a specific color (finish), state that
- tell us what instrument(s) you are currently playing and what about the Rickenbacker you expect to find different
Even if you just posted those plus one follow-up "thank you" to each, you'd have eight more posts!

I thought the limit of number of postings to access the marketplace was 30.
