Thanks! If anyone can give me some idea where the serial number is, it would be appreciated.

If it's not stamped on the tailpiece, look on the back down by the strap button. Sometimes it is stamped in the wood there.

I have inspected the body and headstock then the bridge (which is chrome and a little corroded) it is a combo bridge/tailpiece; I don't see anything stamped there either. Still lookin'

Well, it definitely is an early one, based on the square neck heel, single-line Klusons, and metal truss rod cover. Sure is pretty! I have a Ryder 1000 from 1966, so I know how nice they are!

Another thing to help establish an approximate date is to look at the date codes on the control potentiometers.

Thanks for the pic of the tail piece Mike!

Odd...no serial number on that tail.

I see a 501 on the right side of the tail piece but cannot make out anything on the left. It is most likely there with the corrosion.

I had a 59 950 with a similar problem. Simmons licked his finger and rubbed some of the crud off and we found the serial, V9 something, which looked like they used an upside down "A" stamper.
