Seriously though, you're right. The prices in that price guide are seldom realistic.

One just sold on Ebay with headstock...$2700

I've seen excellent headstock repairs. My friend has an Alembic bass that lost it's headstock 25 years ago, and it plays great with no issues. You could never get me to own a guitar that has had that kind of repair though.
