I have been enjoying my first Ric and am curious about the toggle switch on my single pickup 1000 (1960 model).
It provides a volume cut and a change in tone though this can be tempered by the position of the guitar's tone control.
The lower gain output is kind of 'Stratty' and the higher gain position is alot thicker sounding and really, unlike any single coil sound I've heard.
So... what is the switch doing, is it a additional tone cap with a resistor or ??

...except with a capacitor, not a resistor.collin wrote:As far as I know---Yes.zenitb wrote: So... what is the switch doing, is it a additional tone cap with a resistor or ??

My 1000 switch in one position has no tonal adornment, another position adds the tone control and capacitor (.047 uf) which I imagine you would 'pre-set', and the third position adds a fixed capacitor (.047 uf). Yes, there are two capacitors inside.

Open it up and see what's in there. There was a dual coil horseshoe pickup, also, but I am pretty sure those were use on only the 800 and 850 models.
