John, that's great news! :) :) :) This is going to be so good! We'll figure out a schedule as the day draws closer.

And Woody, there are a couple of budget places close to the venue here, if that's what you're looking for. They don't look too bad and are convenient to the studio and 101 to the City. I'll pick up their names and phone numbers for you in the next few days. There's also a chic little bed and breakfast place that's not far, too. It's called Hotel Panama. A little pricier but it will be nice. I'll get on those and post some info real soon.

Jake, it would be cool to see you here. :)

I can bring the Fender head and Marshall cabinet if someone needs an amp.. :)
I just need help unloading it since I'm such a senior citizen

That's good, Gary! I've got a Behringer bass amp if we need it, 180W and 1 X 15. Perhaps PW can be prevailed upon to supply an amp or two, also.

As for the SOCAL guys, I wonder who's bringing what in the way of amps? Paul A, Collin, Rich, Joey, Dan, anyone planning to bring an amp?

Here's a link to the Panama Hotel which is pretty close to Spectrum. I hear it's nice.

I'll also scope out the motel I know of that's very near the studio.

Here's a link to the Motel 6 that is just a few blocks away from the studio. It seems nice enough:

Here's another one that's very close to the action. The North Bay Inn:

This I know nothing about except that it is close to the gig and the freeway, like the Motel 6.

I am planning on bringing at least one amp -- which size amp it is, depends upon how many family members are in our car coming up... meaning, how much trunk space I get allocated. :) If our daughters aren't in the car, then I'll bring the AC- 30. If I get squeezed for space, I have to start down-sizing the amp proportionately

Gary F: There should be a few Jangleboxes to sample .... I'll have my Original Janglebox and Kira should have her new JB2 in time for the Mini Con :D :D !

I'm very late to this thread (just heard from Kira this AM) but it is sounding good. This brunch still in consideration? Would be fun to meet before the jam.

I'll keep reading the thread - could be my question is already answered.

I'm still trying to sort out what to bring. I don't have a big car, but can try to cram a couple of extra things in. If none of the bassists can bring an amp I have a nice GK 1001RBII head and I might be able to fit my Acme LowB2 cab as well (I know--it's no SVT + 8x10). I also want to bring my Deluxe Reverb and maybe one of my Vibro Champs for people to use in the "quiet" room. If I don't have to bring the bass cab I can bring my largish open-backed 2x12 with a Red Fang and a Wizard. I actually like to use this cab with the VC at home--very efficient speakers, so you don't such a big amp. I have to make sure to leave enough room for a guitar or two, though!

Looking at the pics from the SoCal gatherings it seems like if we had 3-4 guitar amps and a bass rig (plus a couple of things in the quiet room) we'd be pretty much set. I would hate for one of you guys making a long trip to go to all the trouble to bring a big amp and then not need it. Thoughts?
If it is to be, it is up to me.

I think if everybody brings just one favourite amp it will still be too many. Plus we have two bands coming with their gear, most likely. Most people shouldn't worry about bringing an amp, unless you have one that you really want to show off. Especially the guys who are driving so very far to be here. Bring food and bevvies instead, I would humbly suggest!

We also need party lighting, tables, stands, posters and banners for the rooms, and any other items that will cheer up these rather drab spaces. :)

We will be bringing our gear but as soon as the set is over will get it out of the way...

Yes, that's how I suspect it will go all day - rotating amps in and out so that all may be shown off/checked out.

I will probably bring the AC15 Heritage. The old Deluxe reverb will probably not make this trip but I can throw in the SuperChamp.

If this venue is anything like the Backline Rehearsal Studios, you shouldn't need more than 15-30 watts of tube.

To Rich...Thanks ! :) :) :)

My space is limited ( Toyota Tacoma pick-up acess cab ), so I'll just bring my small Fender Vibroverb re-issue and leave the Marshall cabinets at home. Certainly there will be enough amplifiers to go around !

So, having never been to one of these before, I'm hoping to be able to check out a bunch of cool basses and guitars. I'll be bringing some or all of mine, but I suspect that there will be duplicates, so to save me carrying all of them, because I am a very lazy man, here's what I can bring. Let me know which ones you want to see and play.

'79 4001 FG - Toaster and Horeshoe setup
'75 4001 JG - Toaster and Single Pole setup
'80 4001S - AZ - Inch Toaster and Horseshoe setup
4001CS
4004LK
4008 - FG

I'll bring them all if you want, just let me know what ohers are planning to bring. Of course, there's nothing wrong with having two or more of something there :)
