OH NO!

Well I tried to do the heat binding for the 2nd time around(1st time went well), but the binding on the one side of the 4001 started to bubble the 2nd time which resulted in this...

It seems as though binding expanded in some parts expanded where the light bulbs were aimed at(about 4 different areas). Mind you the first time I tried a heat treatment I used the same light bulbs at at the same distance and had no problems whatsoever.

Now what can I do to get this fixed asap? Take it to a local luthier? I'am so ****** off at myself. I feel like an idiot.

Sounds like you just overheated. Maybe some thermometers would be good to keep handy so you can make sure the temperature is ideal the next time around.

Light bulbs are very difficult to control, in terms of the heat they put onto.into a surface.

Your pictures are pretty useless...the background is nicely in focus, the bass blurry as heck, so it's impossible to see what's going on.

I'd get an expert involved.

sorry for the poor photo quality, but I managed to take good ones this time. I posted on another forum and dale fortune suggested some things. So I might as well get post here too and see what help I could get.

Well, you've got nothing to lose by trying the following....mask the neck off below the binding and VERY carefully attempt to sand off the discoloration with very fine sand paper. Something above 300. Be careful, don't sand too fast, and use a light touch.

The binding has bubbled away from the maple neck - you can see maple below the binding bulges.
