Favorite McCartney 4001s Sound?
I believe McCartney is the greatest ever in terms of bass melody and composition. Squire sits in at #2.
For overall bass playing, I'd give McCartney top 6 or 7, mainly for his talents and creativity; he certainly brought the bass to the fore---he completely changed the way bass is played in rock music.

He made bass playing cool and basslines the equal of any other guitar part in a combo. I fell in love with bass because of him. For a long time I was looking for a Hofner I could afford - glad I found my 4001 first. After that I forgot all about Hofners.
Does anybody remember the old Playboy music poles where Paul always wound up at the top of the heap for bass?
