Trouble with Ric-o-Sound jack

Post by steverok »

Hi everyone, I recently had someone swap out the PUs on my 360 for the new hi-gains w/ adjustable pole pieces. Since I did that, the Ric-o-Sound jack has been extremely flakey, in that the treble PU is intermittent. I can wiggle the chord into the jack, and the treble PU crackles in and out, with varying degrees of volume and oomph. Would swapping the PUs have anything to do with this ? I know my 360-12 had a similar problem in that the treble PU was cutting out completely. On that one, my friend removed the jack and tweaked it, and it's been OK ever since. Any recommendations? Thanks.

I recommend the same fix your friend performed for the other guitar.

just check all the connections first, maybe the solder needs to be hit once more.

The cavities that the jacks fit into sometimes have very tight tolerances and can affect how cords plug into them. Sometimes loosening the jack from the plate and rotating it slightly can help. Also, sometimes the jack itself does not make good contact. Removing it and gently bending the contacts towards the center can solve intermittant problems.

It is very unlikely that changing the pickups would cause this problem.
