An interesting piece of psychology could be researched here.

I often imagine that assigning a gender to an "inanimate object" is a "girl thing", although I know guys refer to their cars and motorbikes as women! My car is also a boy and so are any stuffed toys I share my flat with.

For me, I don't think it is the sound my guitars make....I don't quite understand why they are so definately boys to me.

Perhaps I should start a new thread on gender of our geetars!!

I've had both boyz and gurlz...but only cars. Somehow, my guitars and basses don't get names...odd.

I had a '76 Fiat 131 wagon in bright lime green:

HER name was "Sofia Mirafiore", and SHE was a prima donna to beat all.

The current set of wheels is:

although HE's got a subtler, body color grille and rear deck handle now.

HIS name is John Thomas...

Mine aren't people - more asexual really. They are more like objects - sleek machines.... or as in Joey's 'da Blue Beast - things.

Guitars are girls. Basses and baritones are boys. The words themselves in the Romance languages suggest this, and that's how I see them.

Man, did I let this topic slip off the map, or WHAT!

So here we are half a year later since the last anniversary postings - any JUNE birthdays out there? And to make up for the 6-month gap, how about any 2010 milestone birthdays - got any 25-year, 40-year, 50-year anniversaries?

I wouldn't call a six year birthday a milestone, but in the interest of keeping the thread going, here's my 4004Cii/5 from 6/04. :)

Hey! It's a June birthday - it's all good!

All that is one SWEET looking bass! Holy Cow! Love that finish and the figuring.

Once again it is time for my born in June of ’74 4001MG – first appeared on pg 23 of this thread…. Still play it and still gig with it. Over the years I have painted the wings (black) on the headstock, by-passed the cap and did the washers under the tail piece. The latest augmentation – put an HB1 in the neck pup position. Really liking the sound. Will need to dig up a picture or two as it is these days.

Nice, Tom. You'll have to post a sound sample featuring the HB1 pickup in that bass. I've been curious about how it sounds.

I just noticed that this June also marks the 3-year anniversary of this topic!

Right, John. I didn't catch the bird's eye, too. Amazing. Probably the sickest* chunk of wood I've ever seen.
