do you like collecting stuff?

Post by violet »

How far will you take your collection? Obviously things like t-shirts, cds, hoodies, or even things like blankets are a must but do we really need things like this?

So what do you collect and how far are you willing to go to complete your collection?

I seem to be good at collecting all sorts of stuff. And most of that stuff seems to be amazingly good at collecting dust...

I collect stamps... I know it's nerdy, but who gives a ..... :)
I started collecting since I was about 7 or 8, learned a lot about the world, I even got world's stamps atlas when I was 12 as a birthday gift from my parents.
So long and thanks for all the fish!

Oh, hey! Welcome to the RRF!

Seriously, a lot of folks here end up collecting all sorts of music related stuff. I'm not really a Rick collector, but I've managed to somehow end up with 6 of 'em so far. So, perhaps I'm turning into a collector after all.

There was a time, when I was a kid, that I had quite a collection of light bulbs. Not your ordinary household types, more like projector bulbs, street lamp bulbs, and other odd ones you don't see too often. I'm not sure what happened to those, my parents probably tossed 'em when I went off to college. I suppose I'm still a bit of a collector though, I've got a few Xenon Short Arc lamps I want to fire up one of these days. Really bright, white light, they run at about 2kW, that should turn night into day.

Hmm, I've also got a small collection of electronic equipment and such with Nixie tube displays. I've always thought the old Nixies were cool...

I collect hairs on me head... so far the collection's falling apart, though!

A friend of mine collects anything R.E.M. - I just collect b-sides, which might be just as insane, tbh...
I used to collect anything Supergrass but stepped down from such obsessions!

I'm not enough of a corporate tool to go around buying up everything that ever had an AC/DC logo on it (scented candle...what the? )....

I DO collect stuff that is at least somewhat unique....like old guitars. That's about it though, i've broken the compulsive need to collect more useless junk in my life.

Guitars (have a total of five, including the bass)
CDs and Music DVDs of my favorite artists (have every Beatles and Tom Petty album available. For DVDs/videos, only a handful of each artist)
DVDs of my favorite shows (have the available DVDs of "Two and a Half Men", "Big Bang Theory", "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and "The Drew Carey Show" as well as the 1960s and 1970s collections of "Peanuts" specials and Thomas the Tank Engine Seasons 1-7 on Region 2 UK DVD)

When I was younger, I had a fine collection of wooden trains and remote control airplanes, cars and helicopters. Now, those toys are either destroyed or given away :(

I don't have room to collect things anymore because my girlfriend keeps filling the house with all her OOAK art needle feltings. She used to collect junk but now she just makes it herself.
