The Going Gretsch Forum
The Going Gretsch Forum
Over the years there has been much discussion about Gretsch guitars on the RickResource Forum. For many here this instrument, as with the Rickenbacker, was introduced by The Beatles.
There have been requests by Forum members who would like to discuss Gretsch guitars while they are visiting this site. In the interest of having the Gretsch material in the same place and in responding to these requests I have added this forum under RRF Miscellaneous Forums at the present time.
Other Gretsch related posts will be added here as time permits. I would ask moderators to move pertinent posts in their section, as appropriate, to this area as it is convenient.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

And I thought for a second that I was losing it...I was thinking, "Wow! How come I never heard of THIS one?"

Re: The Going Gretsch Forum
I thought Gretsches looked cool since before I started playing music. I think Duane Eddy was the first person I ever saw an illustration of playing a Gretsch, and then when I started really paying attention, I noticed that Billy Zoom of "X" and Brian Setzer of the Stray Cats played Gretsches. I didn't realize the Beatles played them as well until I re-examined a few Beatles album covers.

OK, I just went to the bottom forum, thinking it was the usual "Second Strum", and then thought, "Wow, there sure are a lot of Gretsch guitars for sale today..."
Good idea!

Ummm...this did just show up today, right?
Congratulations Tony, you're a Gretsch guy now.
Not too much here to talk about for the bassists. I thought Gretsch bass guitars never sold well?

Perhaps a bass version of this, and it's in your favorite color, too.ajish4 wrote:Nah, a White Falcon Bass isn't my cup of tea.......

Nice!
I used to be a big Gretsch enthusiast in my hard rock - rockabilly days. At on time I had 12 of 'em.
I'm down to 2 as the Rics and Gibsons took over both my collection and playing style but there's still something about a Gretsch............

Huge honkin' guitars! I look like a popsicle holding one. But I love the way they sound!

All I wanna do is rock!
