He is certainly very underrated. He makes hard to play stuff look too easy. He also was an innovative trend setter back in the day.

I saw it was his birthday today in our paper. He looks great for 70! I agree he is very underrated as a drummer, and I also think he has the best sounding kit and especially snare in the business.
