Ric Sighting......in a Aussie band
Just curious to know if any of forumites heard of these guys. The drummer in our church band i play in is from Austrialia.
I happend across another Aussie last night. She and I got to talking about Aussie bands she suggested I check out a band called "Wolfmother" They are a trio, sound pretty good too I likened what I heard of them to early Grand Funk Railroad.
I Checked out their live and vid performances that I could find on-line and their bassist plays a Ric MG either 4001 or 4003
check em out if ya like, the band my drummer friend suggested is JET but their bassist plays a P-bass...lololol

Some of us have heard of Wolfmother. They have a few singles that get radio play in the USA.
There were at least a couple of threads a while back about them.
Here is is one of them:

Re: Ric Sighting......in a Aussie band
I was listening to them on the way in to work this morning. Their original bassist mainly played a 4001, but the new bassist (as of some time last year, on the new album) is a Fender Jazz guy. They both sound pretty great, and the newer album is solid if you like hard rock that's not afraid to aim for the epic.
Re: Ric Sighting......in a Aussie band
Original bassist was Chris Ross. He and the drummer both left band at pretty much the same time.
There was quite a few pictures at the time of CR and his Mapleglow 4001.
They have a following over here, but not massive or anything. In fact, their second album (something like 3 or 4 years after their debut) got pretty average reviews.
I used to have the first, and TBH, wasn't too impressed. The Ric wasn't prominent on the record, and the fact he owned one was the most interesting thing about them!

The only thing good about Wolfmother is everything except the vocals!!
Every time I hear that guy sing all I can think of is gaffer tape!!!

Re: Ric Sighting......in a Aussie band
Thanks for the insight folks, I just saw some of their vids on U tube. Must have been old ones if they have a new bassist playing.
I agree with you ozover50 regarding the vocals but i liked the jams they played.

Here's a funny review of Wolfmother.
Re: Ric Sighting......in a Aussie band
Very fond of their "Joker and the Thief" because the Chargers Girls do an end zone routine to it!

Honestly, they make me a little embarrassed to be Australian. Also, they stole my friend's outdoor table. True story.
Re: Ric Sighting......in a Aussie band
I saw the former Bassist and Drummer from Wolfmother open for the Heavy at the Quebec SUmmer festival. It was a early 70's Maple glow he played and it seemed to be only toggled to the Bridge Pick up. He was loud...too loud.
Spencer from the Heavy switched over from a Fender Jazz and Percision to a Rick, really nice jet Glo think it was early 80's?
It was great to see a show with bassists playing ricks for a change

Umm maybe some of you don't like the singer, but he's featured on Slash's solo album (don't ask me the song).
