Wonderwall Music/Electronic Sounds?

Hello Brothers,

Can anyone tell me anything about George's first two solo efforts?

Electronic Sounds was exactly that. Hisses and blips and such for the entire album. I had it in vinyl long ago. It's pretty much devoid of any musicality.

Wonderwall Music was a soundtrack for a movie. An eclectic series of musical sketches laced with sitar and Tin Pan Alley. I found it charming and was happy to find bits of the movie on YouTube, never having seen it. It doesn't really sound like Harrison as we know him but it's a fun and interesting listen.

I'm new in this forum but old at The Beatles and their solo efforts. For me, George was Numero Uno with his writing, John was Numero Dos, but that's a different subject.

I still like Wonderwall. First heard it around 1969-1970. The songs are beautiful, lyrical, and even classical, whether you like the Hindu influence or not.

What I enjoy so much about music is that one person's music can be another's white noise. On the positive side, when the pros release something that might be seen as fringe or lack lustre by some, amateurs like myself get to look good if for only a moment. From Gretsch and Rickenbacker to music from the east, I learned a lot from George. I still get a kick out of playing and singing "Don't Bother Me."

Interesting that it reached #49 on the U.S. Charts in 1969, but didn't chart in the U.K.
Eric Clapton dubbed in various guitar parts, on maybe 5 or 6 tracks, if memory serves. He appeared under the name of Eddie Clayton. The tracks with Indian music were recorded in Bombay, with the same studio musicians, at the same time of the Beatles recording of ”The Inner Light”.

Unfortunately, the Electronic Sound track "No Time or Space" was also another incident resulting in litigation against George Harrison for allegedly stealing someone else's work. A year or so after the recording, portions of the "white noise" from "No Time or Space" were also included as underlying sound for the Apple Jam tune
"I Remember Jeep" included with "All Things Must Pass."

Wonderwall Music is pretty cool. Awesome mellotron stuff.

I saw the movie (finally!) about a year ago, it's pretty goofy but the girls are pretty. Plus there's a George song (w/vocals) not on the LP!

Every ten years or so I play Electronic Sounds. It goes fizzzzzz beeep grrrr hissssss.
