Multiple presets, built in tuner, multiband compressor, etc.; I like the simplicity regarding function of amps like my F1 or the channel strip I have for recording, the Universal Audio LA-610 Mk II, as opposed to something like the Focusrite ISA 430 Mk II:

I getcha Jeff. I do prefer simplicity in the same way, but I'm dead set on something with a compressor built in. I'd almost be okay to have a compressor but no EQ, except that I do have to use EQ occasionally if I have a bad "room sound".
