Hey Kenny,

Good move. You can check out the Austin music scene. We'll look for you on City Limits. You are also there just in time to see Texas get its butt beat by Nebraska in October.

Good timing.

Good luck.

Wow, as Brian said...I am floored!

Best of Luck Kenny.

It takes a LOT of guts to leave what you are familiar with both personally & professionally.

It's going to be weird calling RIC and not getting you on the other end! :(

Wow.

This is huge...

Congrats to you and Deb. Moving any distance is both exciting and scary...I know you two will make the best of it. Very cool.

OTOH, I will miss seeing and talking to you at RIC.

Best of luck, Ken, and please do stay in touch.

Good Lock with the move, and thank you for all the help at Rickenbacker. I had the pleasure for you to assist me on a couple things and who ever you work for next is in for a great employee :)

Whoa!

I'll miss seeing yoose guys when I invade town for the jams... :(

At the same time I'm happy for you and Deb - such opportunities don't come along often! 8)

All the best to you both - I'll look you up when my travels take me to Tejas...

Kenny, a shocker. RIC's loss is Texas' gain. Remember, a door is not closing, a new one just opened. Congrats to Deb on the promotion. A new adventure awaits you two!

You see, my honeychile Debonee got a promotion at her day job, which includes relocation to The Lone Star State, and so, off we go!

Dallas, Texas! (It’s almost like one long word, isn’t it? Dallastexas!) The ninth largest city in the USA; no state income tax, and less traffic than SoCal, although every road is a toll road, it seems. Three hours drive from Austin (yay!), and a 3-4 hour flight to pretty much anywhere in the Lower 48. We’ve found a cool ‘30s bungalow on the border of the Bluffview and Greenway Park neighborhoods, five minutes from Love Field, and fifteen minutes from Dealey Plaza.
Wow! Never woulda thunk it. So, uh, maybe the wife could just send you a check and some pictures now and then.....
Seriously, I wish you guys the best in your new adventure. My family moved from Diamond Bar, CA to Frisco, TX (Dallas suburb) in 2001. Came back to SoCal in 2004. Here's what we found:
Pros -
FAR more house for the money
good barbecue food at reasonable prices
lower stress/slower pace
better air quality
no earthquakes, riots, out of control fires, mudslides, Oil of Olay spills on the 405, etc.
far more friendly and neighborly than SoCal. I went back last year for a visit and the lady at the 7-11 said, "Hey Tom.. where have you been, haven't seen you?". I hadn't been there since April '04! She acted like it had just been a week (and remembered the name).

Cons -
fire ants and mosquitos
doesn't really cool off at night (100+ in the day, 85/90 at night, with humidity)
far higher property taxes
no decent Chinese food and harder to find good Mexican food than SoCal
lots of violent thunderstorms and an occasional tornado
seems a lot more segregated

All right, that's 6 of each. Again, best of luck to you and your family and thanks for putting up with all my questions.
