Ouch, the hurt...
Here I am, sitting at work, still seven hours to go and I've just got a phone from home to tell me my brand new (first!) Rick has just arrived. It hurts....
What did you get?
Same thing sorta happened to me, I got card saying they tried to deliver and when I called UPS they said I'd have to wait for the next day before I could get it... So I just called the place where it would be and the girl told me to come around to closing time and the truck will have dropped it off by then, so I got it the same night, boy was I ever happy, hehe.

I always have basses sent to work. We get UPS pretty early in the morning, not much wait time on "the day".
I remember when I got my first Hamer 12-string, I'd wanted one for at least 15 years. The UPS truck pulled up, driver opened the door, and I could see the large carton with "The Ultimate" on it. "It's here"!!

Ronn, do you still have your Hamer 12? I too lusted after one for many years and acquired a Hamer B12S two years ago. Does your 12 get much playing time? I find mine gets very little, though it's a great instrument. Oddly enough, I see you have a 4001CS as well- small world!

Chuck, when CT's Heaven Tonight LP came out in 78(?)I bought it and there was a photo of the 12-string, WTF?? I'd only been playing about 2 years but was convinced this was the coolest bass ever! Well I wanted one forever and finally bought one sight-unseen in '94. It was a brand-new black B12S. I wanted one that looked like the early "Budokan" version, so I got the "S", don't care much for the long-scale ones. I was playing in a power-pop trio and the 12 became a major part of our sound. So of course I had to have a back-up, right? Bought a used B12S in "Salmon Blush" which is a clear salmon orange finish with the maple showing thru. We toured all over, made a record(produced by a Grammy winner) on which the 12s were the only basses, and all I played live were the 12s. Even had a string deal with Hamer till they were bought by Kaman- ARRGHH!! We broke up in '99 and I sold my original black one as I didn't figure I needed 2 12s sitting in the closet. About a year later I saw it in a shop and the clerk said it looked like my old bass, I said it was, and next time I was in there it had a tag on it saying "Celebrity Owned" -HA!!
Anyway, I still have the salmon one but haven't found a band where it would work, tried it with my current project and no-go, I use my 4001CS and 4003.

Very cool- it was that very same Cheap Trick LP that led to my eventual purchase (20 years after the fact!). I have a sunburst B12S. Very beautiful- if you're ever on the 12 String Bass site there's a picture in the gallery when it was owned by Tony Babylon. I can't really use the 12 with my current band; I play my 4001CS with a Jazz backup (which I NEVER use). What was your band Ronn? All us 12ver guys should post a pic!
