The heavier gauge strings have higher tension producing more relief, which is what Werner needed to correct the fret buzz problem.

Have you thought about either a refret, or maybe one of those Plek'd machines?
It's all in the adjustement we made:
Adjusting counterclockwise will mean the neck will bent a little.
Thicker strings give more tension thus bending the neck just a little more.

Refretting perfect frets makes no sense at all to me as none of the frets are sticking out in any way.
Plus that would mean at least 200 EUR, and just end with the same effect as the frets were not faulty to begin with.

What's a Plek'd machine? :?:

Hi Lynda! Cool, Jetglos rule  Is it a 360? (If we're like copying P.L.B. it must be of course :D )

It's a machine that uses a computer/formula to determine the optimum bow of the neck, and it automatically dresses every fret, files the nut, etc, for whatever type of strings you use. No experience with it, but your problem reminded me of it.
Great Ramp In My Opinion.

Actually, Werner, it's called a "Plek", comes from Germany, and is an automated fret levelling device.

I've seen it demonstrated, and basically it does what a skilled luthier can do, in roughly the same amount of time (sometimes more time), with a semi-skilled "technician" doing the setups and takedowns.

It costs $55K+. I'm underwhelmed.

Ah, okay - I do know those machines. The one closest-by that I know off is in Nashville, whereas I'm in Europe...

I did some math and must say it doesn't really add a lot of cost to manufacturing guitars!

Well, might not be "of course" - Peter's got several Ricks, could be you liked one of the other models more.

I like the .011 TIs on the 360 - I'll keep the 340 on .010 TIs, though.
Even if the difference is small, the .011 and my fingers get along much better
