Allen Key for 4003

Post by blue_meanie »

Just bought some new Rick strings for the 4003 from POTR, and lost my Allen key, and can't remember the size. I've read 1/16'' on other website but would like to know from the experts here on Rickresource (I have Rotosounds on now and had to lower my action to the max).

Go ahead and invest in a whole set from your local hardware store. Get standard, not metric, if you're working on a Ric. They come in handy for all sorts of things! Bikes, Ikea purchases... improvised projectile weapons...

I am definitely in need of a new set! I have an old one consisting of larger wrenches, but am missing the smaller ones  it seems I have a tendency to lose the smaller ones. Maybe one of those Swiss Army knife style ones.

Bring the smallest thing you need... I have found the "Swiss army" sets often skip important smaller sizes! And they're more expensive than they really ought to be.

There's a common enough set in a red plastic package that I really like. Wish I could think of the name at this time but I can't. The keys are finished in black.

I bought a ~40-piece set at Home Depot; some 20 metric and some 20 English, for about $16. Every piece you could possibly use for less than a decent bottle of wine.

No brainer.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

A decent bottle of Ravenswood zin is usually around $12.

Awesome. Thank you all for the information, I've been to the Rickenbacker site but the damnedest thing is that they bill to my province BUT not ship, so I'll have to make a trip down to a Home Depot or Rona.

For allen keys you're better of buying them locally.

Definitely true considering shipping costs more than the key itself!
