Customized 2030 . . .

Post by kernkamp »

I got a pretty good deal off of CL on a Rick 2030 with a few quirks. I LOVE how the bass sounds and plays but kind of wanted a little more of a Rick look. So I thought it would be cool to design a pickguard based on the old Rick 3001 pickguard.

So . . . .

With a custom designed Pickguard from Forum Member Todd Bradshaw and a beautiful pickguard perfectly executed by Tony at Pickguardian I now present my "customized" 2030 Rickenbacker with Rickenbacker Toaster knobs. All measurements fit exactly.

I wanted to take better pics but was excited to post it because I just finished putting it together.

I'm really happy with how it turned out. Thank you guys! This forum is beyond helpful.

Nice job!!!

If the market for 2030s was worse than it is I'd have one by now. I don't want to pay $700 or more but that's what I keep seeing. Then again they sound great so I should probably just drop the cash and do something like you have. The pickguard is classy. I don't like the knobs (would have chosen the "vintage" kind that are also used on Fender Jazz Basses) but that's just me.

Now it looks more like a 3001 with an extra pickup and controls, with oven knobs at that! Nice job, I like it!
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

I may change out the knobs eventually but I just didn't like the standard 2030 knobs. The oven knobs ARE a little big.
I just kind of have a thing for them.
