Chris Squire trivia: From the Revealing to the Wonderous

There may be those interested in the finite aspects of Chris Squire's accomplishments within his musical career, even the small stuff outside of music altogether. Like, what was his first dog's name? I don't know the answer to that one, but maybe someone does. Another good piece of trivia - what band was Chris in before Yes? I'll bet a lot of people know the answer to that one, yet some might not.

My trivia offering: What is the only Yes song with bass guitar that features a Yes member other than Chris playing bass?

Apart from 2/3rds of the Union album which may not count, it would have to be .. "Run through the light" from Drama, which had Trevor Horn doing a great job on a fretless bass.... (Chris played the electric piano on this one)

That's correct, Eden! Good instinct to rule out any of the Union material, as Tony Levin is not/was not actually a member of Yes.

I'll play. I've always been curious about the significance of the necklace that Chris has worn through the years. Actually, I've seen him wear a couple different ones, but this one in particular seems to be the favorite.

I'm sure there's a story behind it somewhere, Anyone?

That is a pretty bad-a$$ necklace. Jim - has Chris told you anything about it?

I don't think there's any real significance to the necklace, sentimental or otherwise, other than he just likes it and ones similar. You may have noticed Chris' love of excess over the years, which actually led to his daughter Xilan's initials.

As for "Run through the light", I had posed that question somewhere on this forum a few years ago, only I posed the question differently. I think I asked "Which Yes song is the only one to have broken a long tradition of Yes arrangements?" or words to that effect. I don't remember who answered, but someone got it right. So, my follow up is, What was the original title of that track?

The designer of the CS-74 bass used on "Owner" designed other items for Chris and Yes as well. What were they?

Who took the picture of Chris used on the cover of "Fish out of water"?

What was another nickname for Chris, other than "The Fish"?

Who owned the guitar used to double Chris' bassline on Roundabout and what was it?

Which one of Chris' NON bass guitars wound up in a very prominent postion on a Yes album?

Lots of brain scratching goodies, Jim! I've got a few guesses without jumping to Google for more clues. The first quiz - what was the original name of 'Run Through The Light' - that's a good one, I really don't know. I know that 'Into The Lens' was carried over from The Buggles and their version of it was called 'I Am A Camera.' Does that get me anything?

The photographer for 'FOOW' - was that Chris' wife at the time Nikki? My 2nd guess is that Chris did it himself with a tripod & timer. Of course my vinyl copy is in storage so I can't look. Is it even listed in the credits?

Other Squire nicknames - I've heard Rick Wakeman refer to him as 'Fishy' before.

I think I actually know the answer to the doubled guitar on Roundabout - wasn't that Steve Howe's Martin? (2nd guess Gibson ES-335)

not one for neckware, i liked the leafy necklace he wore during the relayer tour, possibly seen from the j.f.k. stadium in philly. he always had that pompass, royalty look about him which added to his great name and playing abilities.

in an interview, squire said it was a telecaster guitar that doubles the bass in roundabout.

Actually, the jazz bass sees a lot of stage and studio time. To Be Over and Parallels to name two. He's had it at almost every show I've seen, even if only for one number. Face to face from The Ladder is another example.

Nope, not "Fishy", not a tele or an ES-335, not Nikki Squire... Any more guesses?
