Intonation?

I adjust the saddles on my fretless basses by finding the most "centered" point on the strings for the harmonics at the 12 position of each string and move the saddles so that when I push down on the fingerboard the notes match the harmonics.... I was able to get all the harmonics and "fretted" note to match up with adjustments to the saddles.

Nice! I'll have to try this technique for fine-tuning on my fretless (which, alas, is non-Rick, but I like it anyway ).

I'd expect one further advantage is that it's in tune when you double-stop by laying one finger across two adjacent strings, something I do fairly often.

Not unless you watch your technique carefully. In certain places on the neck a barred chord starts to develop an angle with me... Just keep an eye on it, or intonate around it. Two strings are easier to play "straight" than three though, so no big worries I suppose.
