Maine Bass Micro-confluence 07-17-2010

Post by chrisdski »

I had the pleasure of meeting John Martin (fretlessonly) today as he travelled 2 hours north of Boston to Gray, Maine. I had an Avatar bass cab that he wanted to check out, and it was a good opportunity for us to get together and check out some basses. John brought several fretless basses, and I offered up several fretted basses. I took some pictures of the bass get together. After it was all done, I realized I didn't take any pics of us playing the basses :D . Oh well, the basses look better

How did John like the Avatar? Which bass sounded best with it?

Nice pics! Some of those shots will make great wallpaper. Glad you guys could get together and have a good time. :)
I have an Avatar Neo B212. Can't be beat, especially for the price. Very loud, clear and punchy.
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

I went expecting to get the 2x10 Neo since I already have the GK 2x12 Neo, but I preferred the 1x12 after all was said and done. So now I have 3x12 and two horns (w/ volume controls) and I'm getting all 480W out of my GK 700RB-II by running the two 8 ohm cabs in parallel.

I didn't really turn the volume up at Chris', but I will say that it wasn't enough for me to be able to rattle the dishes downstairs, I wanted to destroy them. Now I can. 8)

Joshua - you just know that my Jazz is my favorite-sounding bass overall. That Audere sounded great through the new set-up. I was also very impressed with Chris' '74 4001FG. It has chromes on it and felt very comfortable, frets and all!
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

Dig those Gibsons! And the whole "cresting wave" family looks great.

And four of my basses were back in their cases - we couldn't fit them in the shot.
