'New Tricks' On BBC1

Post by spongebob »

Probably won't ring any bells for owners Stateside, but over here in the UK we have a BBC detective drama, 'New Tricks', starring a host of established actors.

This week's episode was special for the sighting of 3 Rics!

The episiode was based around the murder of the guitarist of a fictional cult band. They showed their old manager in rehearsal with his new band - and both the guitarist and bassist were both playing Rics.

Later on, we're in the bassists' mansion, with a band rehearsing in one of the rooms - and the bassist is playing a (I think) a Midnight Blue 4003, not the bass we saw earlier!

Made me chuckle given the scarcity of Rics here in comparison with the masses of J's and P's, etc, that a detective show should feature 3 i in the same episode!!

Maybe the director is a big fan of Ricks...

So, is this a pretty good show? We tend to like a lot of the BBC & ITV drama/mystery series a lot better than the stuff made in the U.S. I might have to look into getting this series, heck, just having Ricks probably makes it worth getting  . How does it compare to other recent stuff like Midsomer Murders, George Gently, Last Dective, etc.?

Hey, I love New Tricks! I had a quick look, but could only find two Iain - a vintage FG 360 at 12:49 and a shiny MID 4003 at 18:32.

See if the other bass can be spotted here on BBCi Player - http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006t0qx

Some cringe-worthy "rock" references in this episode but the old team are as good as ever

Oops! Your spot on, Godber!

For some reason I thought there was 3.....must have been that lovely MID that got me confused....or maybe my brain is as fried as the members' of that fictional band!

Then again, 2 Rics in UK police show is pretty good going!

I think it is a good programme, quite easy going and well acted.

However, my all-time favourite detective programme is, without doubt, Magnum P.I....you just can't beat that in my book! :D

.....and I say that as a DVD owning fanboy!!

Hey, this is a good show! :D Only watched the first couple of episodes, but we're liking it. Haven't gotten to the Rick episode, but then, we've only got the first two seasons, so I may not even have that one...
