Not so fast. Is it raised letters? I don't think that there are any raised-letter fakes out there. It is possible to create a silicone rubber mold and cast a new raised-letter one with urethane resin, I suppose, but all the "fakes" I've seen simply had the Rickenbacker-esque logo printed/painted on a flat surface. The photo is poor enough that you can't really tell. The "Made in U.S.A." lettering on real ones look like they are engraved by machine and "washed" with black paint/ink, rather than as part of the injection mold. The engraving can be sanded down or painted over, but you likely could still see a bit of "shadow" of the lettering afterwards.

Yup, a bunch of those Italian fakes were molded, raised letter ones. This one looks a lot like those...

Looks like a fake italian one and I think the Made In USA bit is indeed printed without embossing so perhaps you could scratch it off.
I got stung with one of those a few years back so I know what to look for....
