I saw Rain back in the mid 70's.............I wonder if this band has anything to do with the original lineup? I doubt it. That was a long time ago.

IIRC, Rain did a benefit program for PBS a couple of years ago that was broadcast nationwide during the pledge drive.

I saw them here in Munich two years ago at the CIRCUS KRONE, the exact place where the Beatles played one of their '66 Germany concerts .

I saw them live in Nashville;

the bass player looks a lot like McCartney; He started the show playing right-handed. On the second part of the show he changed to a left-handed Hofner bass but being a player myself, (and left-handed too), I could tell he was not playing at all, the bass was tracked, so it was dissapointing to realize they only have the guy for "looks" and not for his playing ability.

I've been watching many of these "Tribute" groups when they perform live and they are mostly based on "looks", not on playing ability. Save your money for better things. The Beatles are gone.

I would think part of being in a "tribute" band is the fun of performing the songs live.
At least, that would be the fun part for me.

On a different note, that bassist must be tired of hearing "Hey buddy you know the real Paul McCartney was left handed right?" LOL

IIRC, when I saw Rain on the PBS show, my impression was that, on certain songs, they nailed them, but others weren't quite so good.

Now, the two times I saw the Fab Four tribute group, they nailed every song nearly flawlessly.

I can't stand these Beatles' tributes for one reason: The way they squeeze that characterized exagerated Liverpudlian vocal effect out of their throats!

It only seems to perpretrate a cheesy cartoony image of the Fabs, IMHO.

he did play the bass when he played right-handed, first half of the show, it was obvious he was. But after the Intermission, he came back "left-handed" and definitely was NOT playing "live". To give you more detail, at one point in one of the "left-handed" songs, he was playing a low "C" note on the bass, when the "recorded track" was playing an A note. { helps to know the chords to the songs to catch them cheating }

yes, he must be tired of hearing that "you're not left-handed". But like I said, I think he got picked for his looks, not for his playing ability, so at least the tribute "RAIN", in my opinion, is lacking in "live" originality. They are mostly selling "looks".

I agree with this, but for me there is just something not quite right with 40 year old men pretending to be 20 year old Beatles.

Yea, Yea, Yea.... I noticed that too. Reminds me of myself in 5th and 6th grade doing a Beatles "immitation"

Everyone here hit the point perfectly, though I really didn't go there to see or hear if everybody hit the right note at the right time with the right (or wrong ) hand, being keen on finding some hair in the soup, I would have missed something quite important - the fun factor. I was just carried away back into a time long gone and it was pure fun ! They had a perfect sound, their voices were blending perfectly and the band sent out a good and honest spirit into the audience. When it comes down to the Beatles we all tend to be overcritical, but ..... it's just a show to bring back some good memories. BTW : The Beatles never played the Sgt.Pepper songs live, even less in those costumes , so what....... a splendid time is guaranteed for all !

and now the Byrds, Led Zeppelyn, and other tribute groups are coming too. I do agree there is a fun factor behind all this, but at least they should find a left-handed Bass player for heaven's sake. Who cares if he looks or not like McCartney, everybody knows he is NOT McCartney.
