Hipshot HB5 Tuners...exact fit?

Post by MaplegloMatt »

It's probably been covered somewhere but I can't find the answer I'm looking for. I believe the Hipshot HB5 fits perfectly in regards to the mounting screws but what about the bushing that goes through the headstock? I recently saw a 4003 for sale and the owner said he'd epoxyed the bushing in place when he put in Hipshots because the existing holes were a little larger. Is that true or are they really an exact fit?
I'm getting ready to swap out my black tuners for chrome so I'm curious about Hipshot vs OEM RIC tuners.
Thanks,
Matt

I just removed black hipshots and returned a 4003 back to its original chrome tuners. The bushing / guide was a snug fit for both. I don't believe you'll need to drill or even shave any wood away.

Thanks for the info Randy. I think when I get down to it, it'll be RIC tuners but good to know on the Hipshots in case I get a deal on some chrome ones.
