It is very cool how many people can suddenly find you. It's also kind of a pain though about some of the friend collectors. If anyone watches South Park, there was a great episode on last week about how Facebook can take over one's life.sodbuster wrote:I just signed up yesterday at the invitation of a friend and fellow rrf member, and I can't believe the contacts i have made in the last 24 hrs. lots of family and long lost friends,, very cool

Re: facebook
I have had pretty good luck about the friend collectors. Only one guy I've never met keeps trying to friend me every few weeks. One of those MLM guys.

Sometimes it isn't that cool... people you never want to meet in your life again, for instance, because they did something awful to a good friend... yet they keep sending friend requests.lennon211 wrote:It is very cool how many people can suddenly find you
As for friend collectors - any teen will be one of those. If I check the kids of my best friends, they all have hundreds of "friends".

Re: facebook
It's weird because I've been a facebook user for quite awhile, adding and interacting with my actual friends (and cute girls that I wanna be new new friends with, of course) and BAM! One friend from high school finds me and there's suddenly a flood of people adding me whom I thought I had left behind forever. Except everyone got so fat and so old and have tons of kids and mortgages and stuff! I found the first love of my junior high school years and she had become a total ham-beast. So scary!

Re: facebook
Question is... what do you do with it?hallewa wrote:I have both a Facebook & Myspace account.
Myspace is evil - I only go there when I really need to, which luckely for me is almost never. Evil as in the most horrible unprofessional looking site there is - a nightmare to look at and/or use!

Re: facebook
I just found it too darned annoying, as if I really want to know all about what a bunch of people I don't even know are doing. My Friends? OK. But all of their friends too? Sheesh! And then there was all the email spam that started showing up that was obviously facebook related.
So, I deleted my account, and can't say I miss it at all...

I already wondered who'd disappeared from FB, you know.cjj wrote:So, I deleted my account, and can't say I miss it at all...
If you don't do these apps you don't get those emails. At least I never get any, but then I also have FB set up to never send me any emails itself either.
I once had a myspace artist page... I can't remember every having done anything with it except having it annoy me more than anything humanely possible.scotty wrote:Its like dragging a straight razor over everyones intelligence.Nasty stuff but i do occasionally post mind numbing applesauce flavored brown water.
Mind numbing applesauce flavored brown water? We don't have that stuff here in Holland... really

Re: facebook
Here's a question - well, two actually. If you un-friend someone, do they get a notice? There are a few ex-work types I don't really care to follow. Also, if you choose to ignore a friend request, are they notified?
Re: facebook
No to both questions John. The friend request for example just sits there and unless you cruise your friends list regularly you will likely forget that you asked a person to be a friend.

I think we have about 75 RRF members (counting some extended family) who are also connected on facebook.
Brian, you and I have that many friends in common.
