Rick 3000

Post by partime »

Hey, I have two 3000's, love them both. They were made four months apart, 1975-1976. I noticed that the truss rod cover on one has raised rick letters and says 3000 on it. The other does not have the raised letters and just says made in USA. Could one be a replacement or was there just a different cover for each made? It is also interesting that both have had the pickups changed out, although the 75 came with an NOS extra (very much appreciated) which I am going to install along with a new pickguard. I can't think of why anyone would want to deviate from the orginal. Does anyone know how many of these were made through the years of manufacture? Thanks, Partime

Jason is right. Pics always do help!

Your two basses were made right around the time that RIC switched from the clear, back-painted, plexiglass TRC to the raised-letter, molded plastic TRC. I'm guessing that your earlier 3000 has the plexi TRC?

The 1976 was made in April. Both are waiting for new pickguards to come in the mail and together with the original NOS pickups which I have, will be installed soon. After that and some good cleaning, I will post pictures.
