Re: Fortune 3301
I predict that Dale will be flooded with orders for $1000.00, 10-hour Rickaliker basses.
Dale says it's a solid-body, BTW...

Well if that's part of the ad description............. how come there's a sound hole in it? That does not make sense at all. It has to be partially hollow n'est pa?jingle_jangle wrote:Dale says it's a solid-body, BTW...
If any luthier could make that particular bass in 10 hours, I agree the orders will quickly surpass the ability to keep up with the flurry of orders. I know a number of luthiers and none of them claim to be able to build a guitar (even with a neck provided) in a ten hour period. It's pretty much impossible unless the body was also already made and all that was required was finish sanding, painting, scraping the binding, buffing and final assembly and then a test run and final QA/QC check for blemishes.
Hence my snowing in August comment.

I think it would have taken at least 10 hours just to build one of those cheapo Kay or Harmony guitars that were sold in record shops in the '70's!
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!

With the several posts about "somebody got a steal" --- assume that nobody here got this custom shop Bass ?

He's not been on this board for a few years Wes. As to the reason...........he flagrantly broke the rules. Enough said.ricosound wrote:Why is Dale Fortune locked out from posting here, did I miss something?

Re: Fortune 3301
I think the point that Dale made this bass to a customer's order has been overlooked when the comments about copying were made.
And a curious aside; I wonder how many hours RIC puts into a 4003 during manufacture? With all the CNC capability, I wonder.

if you count the hours the glue was drying maybe.
I bet you can build a 4003 in way under 10 hours. not counting drying time for glue and finishes all pieces CNC'd .

Stuff like this tend to be hot button issues around here. Don't let it turn you off, this is a cool place!Rockin' James wrote:You know I didn't join this forum to get into an altercation with anyone. Great Ramp In My Opinion.
Re: Fortune 3301
Really most of this amounts to opinions - some considered, some not. I don't think anyone here has been to a court over any of this. And if they have well each individual case is judged upon its own merit... take all of this with a grain of salt. I have my own opinion but that is all it is an opinion... and you know what they say about opinions...
