Chris Makes An Appearance.........

Post by Lefty4003S8 »

FYI to all Squire fans........

Chris makes an appearance on the new album by former Genesis guitarist---Steve Hackett.

The album is titled "Out Of The Tunnel's Mouth" and it is AWESOME--IMHO. Squire is on two of the album's tracks.
For those who may not know this, AND, for those who do.........Hackett and Squire have recorded an album together.
I recently met Steve, and when I asked about it's status.......he said it is completed and they are shopping around for a record label. So......keep your eyes peeled!!!!!!!!

Steve recently appeared on Chris' Christmas album "Swiss Choir"

All true! :D

I picked up a copy of Steve's new CD at his concert in PA last month. Very good stuff. Chris' contribution is nice but Nick Beggs also plays a mean "Rick & Stick" on the other tracks as well.

Was that show at Sellersville Theatre by any chance???? If so.....I was at that show. That is where I picked up Steve's new album and met him.
Would like to have met another Forumite!!!!!!!

I bought the album straightaway (not only because I very much like Steve and his albums but also to support him after all the financial problems he had with the divorce and related catalog disputes) and one day when I was sitting happily in the mountains I fired up the iPod to listen but I only made it through the first two tracks. While I had expected it to be dark it was VERY dark. So, I switched to something a bit more appropos to the mood and made a mental note to get back to it someday soon. I need to go back and listen!!

I saw him in PHX many years ago on a solo tour and he was great. Seeing him play "Horizons" was the highlight. The perfect touch was the way his humor came out. At the end of the encore, he must have bit down on a capsule of "stage blood" that he had in his mouth and then let it flow out of his mouth as he leered at us. He is known for his kooky sense of humor.

I am very much looking forward to the much talked about "Squakett" album with Chris.

That would be him. When Jim and I saw him at The Palace Theatre he was pretty amazing....other than the leather kilt...just couldn't quite warm up to that....Steve also has a female guitar player named Amanda Lehman who is impressive.

Got to say that I'm happy I got this CD. Great material with or without Chris I think. It has parts that
I expect out of Steve Hackett and parts that surprise me. But still a master guitar player making great
music. I'd recommend anyone out there get a copy if you like Steve's work. And I really look forward
to the Squire / Hackett CD to see the light of day. I had always thought the GTR project way back was
missing a representative from the 'Bass' side of the family. I really wonder what would have come out
of that project if Chris has been involved.

Well it did not have a name bass player but Phil Spalding did a great job with a clear and precice tone from a Steinberger bass.
His work with Mike Oldfield is well worth a listen as well. (Phil is a guitarist turned bass player I think).

nick beggs is a huge chris squire fan,and quite an incredible bassist himself. nick interviewed chris in a british bass magazine a while back, where chris told him to "keep that thing away from me!",referring to the chapman stick....it was a pretty funny interview in general. i think maybe chris should consider trading in the tights for a leather kilt himself!    i'm looking forward to hearing the squakett cd when it comes out.

I wasn't saying the bass in GTR was bad at all! Just that I would have been interested to hear what Chris would have
brought to that mix. And probably more so once the Squackett CD is out. I think we'll find out that he and both of
the Steve's make great music together. And leave me wondering what the 3 of them would do.
