Amazing photos - hard to believe that they were taken 100 years ago, and with the cumbersome technology of the day! Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely amazing.
We all think that life before the 50s was black and white but it was as colorful as it is today.
Thanks for posting it!

Looking at some of the landscapes, I can see why my ancestors felt right at home in Kansas when they settled in the US in 1874.

"Back in the days before folks learned how to smile"

It must have been a real boon for photographers and their subjects when film and cameras improved to a point where a candid photo was possible and folks no longer had to sit still and hold the pose for a length of time....

However, these pics are wonderous!

Yep, smiles usually ended up making the sitter look bad as it was hard to hold a pose for an extended length of time; neck rests were the norm in studios of yore.

Fascinating photo's. Life looks so simple back then, doesn't it?

Reminds me of an excellent documentary I saw earlier this year which featured Albert Kahn and his work at the same time. His work in Asia at that time really is visually stunning.

Nice! :D Very much in a similar vein. What these photographers did is basically the reverse of tri-color separation work that used to be done before digital in the printing profession. 8)

Ingenuity over technology. Or optimizing current technology. Very impressive and surprising.
