Humberto.............check the serial number on the RIC corporate site. That will tell you what year and month it was made and it will confirm its authenticity. The serial number is on the jackplate.

thanks for the input , i did check the serial and it said that was made on june 1990 i like a lot of shoegaze rock made with rickens around that date.
is it a good date or year? paid 1200.

From one mapleglo 360 player to another - VERY nice!! I like the golden hue your mapleglo has. I wonder if it was that way when it was new, or if it was as blonde as mine is, and it aged to its present golden color over time.

The RIC website does not actually use genuine serial number records on it's serial decoder, but rather uses an alogorithm to determine what date the guitar would have been manufactured, if the serial were legitimate. This means it cannot be used to authenticate an instrument.

example:
If you type in a serial starting with FD followed by four numbers, it will state that the guitar was manufactured in April 1966.
The four numbers can be anything from 0000 to 9999 and the result will be the same, despite nearly all of these numbers being fake.
Actually, only about 500 (those that lie approximately between 1000 and 1500) out of the 10,000 possibilities are genuine April '66 serial numbers.
As long as the format is correct, the RIC decoder cannot tell the difference between real and fake numbers...

Perhaps I should have been clearer with my post. In my haste, what I was trying to say was this this: Check the serial number on the RIC corporate site. That will tell you what year and month it was made. If there is a serial number is on your jackplate that works with their decoder then it is likely that your guitar is authentic.

The same poster had enquired moments earlier in another thread about a faker wanting to know if it was real, so my post was in fact a continuation of that conversation that was now merged with this one. Anyway, your post is a good one and informative for those who are new to this site.
