Did you have to route the body at all to get a bit wider spacing for the pots so you could install the oven knobs? The reason that I ask is that I have been wanting to put oven knobs on my 4001 for quite a while.

Nah, they stick ever so slightly, but I'm only ever going to use the tone knob for my bridge pickup anyways... and for the music I use this bass for- that's pretty much never. :D

Waaaaay better than white.

And with the upside-down lettering on the TRC, finally the reversed headstock makes some sense.

That is definitely the way to go.

Not sure about the oven knobs though.

The gold guard looks very nice on that C64!

Agreed 1,000,000%

I find the white guards to be extremely artificial in contrast to the fantastic wood grain finishes.

Love it!

I think I'd use some Tele-style chrome knobs like the first 4000s.

My guitar tech shaved the oven knobs slightly when he put them on my 4003 MBvp.
May be the lesser of two mods.

I like the gold guard. Not sold on the oven knobs though. However, it is a very striking looking bass.

I'm surprised you guys aren't diggin on the oven knobs! The knobs complete it for me mainly because I also have 2 rics with the standard vintage style knobs.

Thanks for the kind words!

Those knobs are awesome, but vintage ones are impossible to get and the reissues are so dang expensive.
Great Ramp In My Opinion.
