Okay, from the hints:

-"small package"
-"Stay "two"ned," and
-"Has anyone here played with rivets???"

Could it be pickups for your 4002? I thought you sold your 4002?

So here are the beans to be spilled:

Since getting my 4002 with HB's, I acquired two sets of original 4002 pickups. The first pair I got was missing one of the regular wires on the XLR-equippable pickup. The second pair I got I started to wire up... and accidentally yanked out the same wire that was missing on the other set!

So I sent them to a well known pickup guy's shop in the USA (which is convenient, me being in the USA as well) and had him open up the riveted-shut pickups and repair them. I also asked him to take photos so I could see what they look like inside! Neat, huh?

Congrats Jason. I thought you had this all sorted a while back. I didn't know that you broke the same lead wire. That must have been upsetting at the time.

Good man! Please post pics. Who did you send them to for repair, Lollar or Fralin or...?

It may be the first time one of these was popped open outside of Santa Ana, CA. With any luck your pics may give me an idea why my 4002 bridge pickup phases out the A string when blended in phase with an HB-1. If nothing else they'll be really cool. :)
