Anyone know how to get rid of "win32Nuqel.E" virus?

Post by octagon »

My girlfriends laptop PC is infected the WIN32Nuqul.E "Fake Spyware alert " virus or what ever it is and it is a bear to get rid of. Can't do run any programs can't down load anything can't delete it manually. Anyone have any experience with this? None of the solutions I have found on Google work at all? Help?

You can try installing Twister Antivirus and running it from Safe Mode. But it probably won't work. My daughter had this and the only solution was to reformat the HD, from Safe Mode.

I got some Trojan infection in my computer last night. My Symantec antivirus program would find it, but not remove it. I restarted my computer in safe mode, then did a restore to a few days ago. Then I restarted normally and quickly downloaded the latest antivirus updates and a did a full scan. It seems to be fine now.

Thanks guys. We did a system restore and this seems to have fixed it(for now) then we down loaded Malwarebytes and did a scan but it didn't find anything . Maybe we will try Housecall also if we have more problems. I don't understand why the Norton Security Suite is so useless for preventing this?

Mitch,

It may be that you need to give Norton permission to do updates at anytime. Norton 360 is constantly doing updates on my machines as a background process. So far my computers have been trouble free.

Thanks Brian,I haven't had any trouble with my computer either. My girlfriend and I both have the same Norton Firewall and it is their newest and updated everyday but for some reason Norton could not find this virus.

I have worked in IT for twenty five years. The last 5 as the owner of my own consulting firm. I would not use Norton anything. the two best AV programs (IMHO) are:

1.kaspersky
2. Mcafee

Your mileage may vary

For a lot less money (free to try) Twister Antivirus does an excellent job. Also you pay one time and get lifetime support and new virus updates. Mcafee makes you subscribe, last I heard. Don't know about kaspersky. At work we use AVG which is ok, but Twister has found and killed viruses that AVG could not even find.

Kaspersky is subscription based as well
