Paul-add Mark Neill to the attendee list. Any drummer and bass player want to join us on "Hello Mary Lou"? I'm trying to get him to do a few more tunes with me.
Skip if you still need a bass player for Hello Mary Lou, I'd be happy to play.

Nays
Kenny Howes sends his regrets-the Arlington guitar show beckons. . .

Speaking of things Rick Nelson, too bad we couldn't get the Nelson twins to show up; they stopped by the RIC booth at NAMM this year. :D

Skip, there's a decent-looking house p.a. at the Starting Gate; we checked it out when we were there. If it looks decent, it must be good, right? ;) :D

Oh, and I just picked up a guitar (the BB) for the first time in over a week; it played killer! I was getting a low action and fretboard finicky for a bit and made some adjustments a few weeks back, but still wasn't quite happy with them; either they've settled in, or else I just missed the guitar. . . or possibly both! My playing was very fluid, I easily remembered and played all my riffs, transitions, blues boxes, et cetera. I was either in a groove, or it was the caffeine . . . I suppose it could have been both answers for that as well. :)

I'm pretty sure that most, if not all of my band will be there. If they all can come, we might take a half hour time spot.
Speaking of bands, no one has emailed me with a time spot for their band. Are the Shamus Twins, SFD or any other bands going to perform?
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS! :-)

SFD's drummer, JEsse, has a wedding to be at that da, so the band can't do it. I think Jerry said the Shamus Twins wanted in, IIRC. :)

Glad to see you'll be able to make it!

ALL RIGHT, I HAVE SOME REALLY GREAT LATEST NEWS. WHY THE HE77 AM I WRITING LIKE THIS?

I have saved enough money for a cheap plane ticket to LA to attend this meeting. Now, if our cousin can let us stay for this weekend and I nail the tickets to at least ONE show, I'm in for good. Right now, this is an "Almost positively definitely maybe". Don't know what you all will make of that.

"Two and a Half Men" goes on "sale" Wednesday. My mom is going to try to get the tickets for that show first (because it is filmed first). Once I get those tickets, Paul A, I will PM you. Then you call me, if you can. Then we can discuss the Jake Jam, where it will be and what songs to play. (as long as "Refugee" and "Here Comes My Girl" are included in the Petty set, I'm good to go).

Gary C, I will also PM you Wednesday to see if you could let me use some of your guitars for the jam. May I use at least two, maybe three, of your Rics? Of course I want you there to see and handle them, but my mom doesn't want me taking my Rics on the plane, and I'd also like to finally see and play a 660/12TP FG, 1998PT and a 370/12 McGuinn MG.

Jake, the "JakeJam" was merged into SCARF. I am extremely offended by your failure to notice our clear announcement of that fact. Clearly you haven't been paying attention to all of the hard work we cat herders have been putting in over the past month, all the more difficult since I've been under the extreme duress of the first four weeks of fall term in law school!!! ;) ;)  I even made the extreme sacrifice of drinking a tequila shot with the owner of the venue. Do you realize how difficult that was for me?! I don't even like tequila! I may sue for pain and suffering!

All kidding aside, it's only because the Starting Gate doesn't have much of a website that y'all aren't somewhat drooling over photos of the nice facilities we'll have for SCARF. The guitar displays will be in one room, and the jam will be in the separate main club room. Even though you're under 21, it's a restauraunt/lounge/bar, and we'll be done before 10 pm, so you'll be okay to go into that part of the club, and the place might even have grape soda, but don't quote me on that. :D

Anyway, check out previous pages of this thread for more details, which should answer a lot of your questions, and possibly spark some more, which Rich, Joey, Gary, or I could easily answer. Steve F's even put in a request to Vox to see about the possibility of a rep coming out to demo the new HW series-wouldn't that be cool?! :)

Cheers, and keep those cards an letters coming in folks; we want to pack the place with Ricks and Rick lovers. :)

Woo Hoo, glad you'll be there, Dan!!! :)

Don't hate a brother because he hasn't been online in a good while. School and work have kept me busy and I haven't really bothered to check my comp. To be fairly honest, I thought we were gonna have a pre-jam at someone's (don't ask me who) house with you, me, Gary, Collin, Dan S, and some other people playing our favorite tunes and whatnot. I need to check this place daily! :P

How did you know I love grape soda? :o

My mom SHOULD be coming to this thing. I can get it with a parent or something, right?

It's too much for my tiny attention span to handle!!! :o

In regards to Steve talking to Vox: I could finally play through a REAL Vox amp! :D The local music shop just got in some Vox amps, but it's two Valvetronix and a Solid-state AC-15, no tube, which ticks me off!

This whole thing is making me itch for a month to come. I REALLY hope I get those tickets and that the cousin will let us stay. I'm hoping, everyone else do likewise!

By the way, will there be any way or place I can do my Mick Jagger impression?

Hey Jake,

I hope things work out for you. I'm looking forward to meeting you in person! Pre Jams usually happen, but we generally don't plan them out until we get closer to the EVENT.

I'm thinking about hauling this old thing out to SCARF as it's the first one since I got it. Not so much for the backline but more for the showroom (although we'll FOR SURE be plugging it in).

In the road case, it's almost as tall as I am, and much louder! I imagine I'll need some help getting it out of my car

Why would you want to do a Mick Jagger impression?!

If you mean singing, go for it; sing all the Stones numbers you want. If you remind me, I'll even bring a pair of maraccas. Actually, I have a new haircut going that's a cross between early Keith Richards and current Johnny Marr, so. . . .

Jeez, Jake, you're too young to have a senior moment; I know you like grape soda because you told me near the beginning of the thread "Jakefest" thread!

You'll be able to get in because the venue is a RESTAURANT, as well as a bar/music venue. The event ends at 8pm, and the kitchen doesn't close until 10pm, so you can be there until the kitchen closes. Your mom is invited, of course.

All right. I think I am good to go. I've got my mom at her office checking the TV tickets website, waiting eagerly to order "Two and a Half Men" tickets...once we got those tickets, I'm onboard about 30%.

Our cousin says it's fine to stay out at her place for the weekend of SCARF. I've got a good feeling in the pit of my heart. :D

Only onboard 30%?!! You instigated this thing!  Not that it won't still be a cool event even if you can't make it, but I think everyone's already expecting you to show up. :D

All right, one of the things we need to organize is the jams, so it's not a complete free for all with lots of dead spots and train wrecks. .. er, not that I'm implying that that's what usually happens at our jam sessions.

Rich proposed we have different organizers by decade. I think that's a good start, but I would like to further subdivide, by genre, as in the case of surf... er, Skip? :) and then maybe by bands. I'll take The Jam, and split the 80s stuff w/Dan, VVito, or anyone else who wants to step up. :)
