Been a year tomorrow...
...since I got my favorite guitar, my '86 1997...it has the mojo that can tackle anything, and I'm still loving it after one year.
The most recent shot of it, with my V64.
I was having a bad day with some problems involving a girl I wasn't sure I liked, the person I thought was my best friend and a guy I know who plays bass who isn't friends with me anymore...try and put something together...
Then out of the blue, the UPS truck shows up with my 1997 direct from Ron O'Keefe. Dunno how you made that day turn around, Ron, but you did. Still thanking you one year later!
It was in near mint condition when I got it. Aside from a couple of chair-bump chips on the bottom-back, and a chip from where I dropped a harmonica the treble horn (all of which were touched up), it's stayed in showroom shape.

Re: Been a year tomorrow...
Jake, I 'm glad that guitar has brought you so much happiness. May it continue to be that way for many years to come.
As a 1986 build, it's the earliest 1997 reissue on the Register and probably one of the first ones made. It has a strong Fireglo finish that has nicely ambered out over it's 24-year life.
And it's older than you are!

Congrats on the anniversary, Jake! Beautiful guitars, both of them.
Great Ramp In My Opinion.

Anyone else see this or is it just me...
Does anyone else think that Tom Petty's '86 1997 reissue and mine have similar FG aging and patterns?

I told my non-Ric friends (the people who have absolutely no clue that this forum exists!) that my 1997 is about 20 numbers behind Tom Petty's, but now I'm starting to believe that the two 1997's are very close in serial numbers. It's been said that TP's was the first one to be produced, and was given to him by Rickenbacker. Anyone know that serial number?
