Post by brycycle »

hi -

just got word from Calgary that some friends had their gear stolen after a show.

if anyone sees a JG 4003 lefty pop-up (silver case), please give me a 'heads-up'.

i'll try to get a serial #.

Hey Bryce: if it was in the register, mark it as such (if not, have the owner register it and do so - if that's possible). There's a pretty good record of recovery here, although it takes time.
Can we have everything louder than everything else?

What's the strategy if it shows up online--are you supposed to alert the seller or not?

hard to say - if the person seems shady (possible thief or accomplice) - i wouldn't raise suspicion or it will likely vanish.

if it ends-up in the hands of an unassuming, reputable seller or store - i'd give them the credit that they'd try to make things right.

here's a pic of the bass - not too many distinguishing characteristics other than the sticker and the fact it is a lefty. waiting on the serial #.

Great, now bribe the cops so you can beat the tar out of him/her for five minutes...

I'm not a big fan of thieves.

Fantastic news! This happened to me ten years ago. My Epiphone 12-string and a friends old Fender Deluxe were stolen from his house in Birmingham. We travelled around the City looking in guitar shops etc. My friend eventually tracked it down on the outskirts of town in what is known in the UK as Ca$h Conver£ers! The police got involved and we were told that it would take six months to get them back - legally. We could, however, get them back immediately if we paid the shop the money they payed the thief - £180.00! This we obviously did. The police caught the culprit (he lived in a half-way house next door) and we did press charges - I think he went to jail, but it was a terrible experience.
