Over The Rhine

Post by longhouse »

It's always great when you see one of your all-time favorites playing a Rickenbacker. While I know that happens daily to most of us here, I was pleasantly to surprised to find this clip of Karin Bergquist of Over The Rhine playing a Rickenbacker. Through their myriad incarnations the constants have been Lowden acoustics, Hammonds plugged into Selmer amps, Karin's soaring voice, and powerful songwriting.

Hard to believe this (first) clip was 18 years ago now! Wonder if she still has it. They just came out of the studio with Joe Henry serving as producer.

Any love for OTR here?

Magic. Pure magic. Thanks Noel. Another band to add to my collection of preferred artists.

No. I use Skype for sending and receiving big files.

Since they didn't bother to show the bass player at all on "Sea and Sky", does any one know what the bass player was using? Mark

It's Linford on this Fender Jazz bass:

He tends to fancy small bass amps.

He was in Lexington with this Dano Longhorn though:

But he's been known to record with these too:

I can't believe anyone else knows Over The Rhine! I used to go see them at a bar/laudromat when they were just starting out.

At Sudsy Malone's! I have an original hand-labeled cassette copy of 'Til We Have Faces'.

A fond, fond memory of my youth involves lying on the hood of my little Isuzu watching a summer meteor shower with OTR's 'Rhapsodie' playing on repeat in my Sony headset...

Sudsy's was a geat bar! I also still have my cassette of 'til we have faces, probably the best album I've ever bought from a band in a bar. I haven't been to Clifton in years, does Sudsy's( or Jimmy D's, across the street)still exist?

Sudsy's closed down for good in 2008 I think. :(

And yikes, I need to send John his sampler!
