I look it a bit differently....

I play my CS in homage to the man who inspired me to pick up electric bass in the first place.

Just looking at it brings some good thoughts.

I'm the same way. Playing it also tends to push me to want to play better. I hear those great
bass lines running through my head everytime I see it.

Well, supposedly, if you can hear it in your head it you can play it. That's what they say, anyway!

I don't think you phrased it badly, Kevin. I knew what you meant. And I agree.

My vote would be to have Pickguardian make me a replacement pick guard and then I'd save the original.

Thats a smart move even if you like the signature, as the original plexi ones are prone to breaking...

And I have to say that they DID make me 2 replacements for my pick guard....one signed by Chris to frame with the
also signed COA, and another that could go on the bass if it sees much activity out of the house.

Hmmm. I bet if people didn't know what caused the discoloration, this "custom colour" may have received more than a few complements.
Just sayin'.

$1910.00 isn't THAT good of a deal. Once you add in the cost of a refin ($500-$900) and the cost of getting one of those guards made (Rickenbacker doesn't have any more left), you end up spending more than the non-smoking version would have cost. Was there even a certificate with it? I don't think so.

That's assuming the buyer is concerned with such things.

I really dont buy that smoking did that. The color is completely even across the entire body and headstock. You'd think if it sat around in a smoke enviroment there would be marks in the finish from where it was less-exposed.
