Ooh, looks like a great project! :D
I have NO idea what to do with those skinny stringed things... I'm just a bass player...

That's beautiful, Brian. So, did PW do a yellowed varnish re-fin on it?

BTW...I don't think Macca's Rick ever had the "Made in the USA" sticker on the pick guard!
Yes. Paul ambered the finish. And you are right about the Made in the USA Sticker. At the very least by the time it got to Red Rose Speedway it would have been long gone. This being, no less, the 3rd time the basss had been modified.

Maybe Bartolini pickups for Ric basses as I have liked the way those sounded in the past. I don't have the same confidence in the Seymour Duncan stuff.
I like the three toasters idea aesthetically. And I'd love to hear what the one in the middle would sound like.

Do you have a newer higain that could be unwound and magnets put into?
Yeah I do. Does it have shallow indents/slots for alnico slugs like a Toaster would have?

Josh, you carefully cut the magnet off the bottom, remove the 6 poles (nails or hex screws), chase the holes with a 1/4" drill bit, then put in 1/4" x 1/2" alnico5 rods. Unwinding to 7.4 would be optional - depends on what you want and if the other two toasters are the 7.4k ones.

I see--unfortunately this is a bass Hi-Gain. Will it still have 6 holes?

I guess a 4-slug alnico "Frankentoaster" might be interesting.

I can't believe I found these pictures. I've been looking them for a LONG time....sometimes, I get lucky!

THIS is what I wanted to have made YEARS ago...I believe this was a 365 Guitar converted to a bass.

It was on Ebay YEARS ago. I found this after giving up on the idea of a 360 Conversion due to the cost involved.

I'd STILL love to try this one of these days, but the correct way.. C'mon Lotto!

Not perfectly thought-out, but an intriguing notion. I could dig it. 8)

Now THAT'S a custom. Changing knobs, pickguards and truss rod covers does not a custom make.
