Autumn in Southern California
Autumn in Southern California
Sunday, when I was leaving for a gig, my cars thermometer read 109. When I got to the gig in Dana Point-RIGHT on the water, it was 90.
Yesterday, the all-time record in LA was broken-it was 113! That matched the high temp I saw on my car thermometer here in normally cooler San Diego.
Aye-yi-yi!

Re: Autumn in Southern California
Oh, you mean Hotumn in Southern California?
Crazy! Last week it was overcast and cool, and even cold (for So Cal) in the mornings here in coastal LB; I was wearing a jacket all day, and one morning I even had a scarf around my neck. . . of course, the scarf was striped, so I wore it as much for style as to stay warm, but still. . .
I don't necessarily buy into the "but it's a dry heat" mode of thinking, but I was really glad it wasn't humid. While on a study break after my first class, I walked a block and a half from campus (my law chool is in Fullerton, significantly inland from my home in Long Beach), and back, to grab a bite of lunch. I didn't really break a sweat or anything, as hot as it was. It felt good to get out in the heat for a bit after being in an AC classroom for an hour and a half. Later in the day I actually had to run from the library out to the car and back (yep, I ran) to grab a light jacket to wear because I was starting to get too cool. Nuts!
The temperature is supposed to drop 8-10 degrees tomorrow. It's really surprising weather, but I can't complain (I'm not implying you are, Skip-this weather is quite surprising!
); we had a really mild summer, so I suppose this makes up for a few of the hot days we never had in August.

Definitely cooler today. I got into work early yesterday and it was already 90. This morning I got in later and it was only 80. I heard on the radio that MALIBU had a high of 100 yesterday.
One of the guys at the office reported that it was drizzling this morning in downtown San Diego.

Autumn in Southern California
How about that ---- a week-ago Monday, the all-time record of record heat and now it flip-flopped into the 60s and Rain the last couple of days, and actually saw some flooded intersections and stuff on the TV news.... Oddly its supposed to bounce back up to 85 and 90+ on this Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Hope we get settled down for good weather for
SCARF-Ricktoberfest® (a week from Saturday!) so nobody is lugging vintage guitar cases and gear back and forth to their vehicles, in the rain.
We'll have to keep an eye on our favorite TV Meteorologist, Jackie Johnson, (who made the list of the 10 Hottest Weather Girls Ever)

As crazy and unusual that the weather for So Cal that it has been lately, we still can't complain much in comparison to what other places have been hit with.
...and we get to have Jackie Johnson, give us the weather! The lousier the weather is, the more often you get to see her!

I'll take your list ANY TIME Rich!
Perhaps, if our hurricane forecasters looked like THAT, I wouldn't dread hurricane season anymore!

The "10 Hottest Weather Girls" List gives a whole new meaning to Global Warming !!!
Re: Autumn in Southern California
Elita Loresca on KNBC-LA (Channel 4) wins "The Hottest Weather Girl" hands-down! My wife insists I leave the room when she comes on!
Rich-I have Weather (as well as Parking) Karma. Please let me know what weather you want at S.C.A.R.F., and I'll take care of it.
FYI, last year-before I was involved-it was hot and miserable at SG-101 in August. This year, I arranged for it to be in the high 60's and sunny.
