just stumbled upon Teenage Fanclub

Post by jdogric12 »

Ok, so I just heard this band for the first time, heard the song "Baby Lee" on the most recent Paste Magazine compilation CD. Can anyone tell me if this song is fairly representative of their sound? (I did search this forum, but can't watch youtube vids at work.) Thanks! J

Yes, J it is representative of their sound. If you like Baby Lee, the entire new disc (Shadows) will be enjoyable. Grand Prix, Bandwagonesque and Songs From Northern Britain are MUST owns. There is very little that they do that I dislike. Next week they start small North American tour (nothing your way though). And they occasionally play RICs!

For some reason their record "Thirteen" gets no love, but it's my fave by far.

Love those guys. One of the best live shows I've ever seen. So much fun.

Thirteen is actually my favorite too. I listed the "universally" approved discs for simplicity. Might as well add Howdy! and Man Made too.

During my college years, I wore out cassette copies of both Bandwagonesque and Thirteen in my VW Rabbit's tape player. I have since bought them on CD and they still sound as fresh today as they did back then. If I had some vacation time left, I would love to catch one of their shows up in Chicago. They are one of those bands on my list that I have always wanted to see live but haven't yet. Maybe someday :)
