Re: Paul McCartney to Reissue Wings Album "Band on the Run"
I forgot to mention how much I loved "I'm Looking Through You," and "We Can Work It Out"; greatness.
Regarding the songs I didn't like...it wasn't because of the meaning behind the songs or the intent, I just didn't like the way they sounded.
Reasons for him being my least favorite Beatle? I guess it was really because he was considered the "cute" one.

My guess is that FretlessOnly was going to edit his repost of indiannation66's original post for brevity, rather than reposting the entire quote. I don't think Fretless meant the original post was too long... YMMV.just_bassics wrote:Perhaps someone can enlighten me here - Editing posts for "brevity"? It didn't seem too long to me.

The lyrics to Eleanor Rigby were very much 'brainstormed' and depending which account you read, that line was one of Lennon's.indianation66 wrote:
a face she keeps in a jar by the door...argh!
So you would have to move that one tentatively over to your 'Things I don't like about Lennon' pile.

As an educator I love to learn; and I just learned that line from E.R. was by Lennon...still don't like it. I see Lennon's writing in 3 phases.
1. Lennon as a young man learning to write and having "young man drive," therefore, Lennon influenced.
2. Drug influenced
3. Yoko influenced
His Lennon influenced writing is my favorite, therefore face/jar/door I'd chalk up to drug influenced, although I don't really know for sure.
Back to the topic at hand, Band On The Run is by far my favorite Beatle solo work, written and performed by my least favorite Beatle! I'd love to do a cover with famous people performing some task, just to meet other impressive people!
Who would I want on the cover...still alive.
Sarah Mclachlan
H.R. Giger...I believe he's still alive
Bowie
Prince Charles
Charlie Rose
Ted Nugent
Nigella Lawson...to name a few...I may have to think more on this...

I love Band on the Run as well, and I have the 25th anniversary edition. Do you think the new release will sound any different from the edition I already have?
Re: Paul McCartney to Reissue Wings Album "Band on the Run"

I'm always amazed that "someone" has different recordings/takes of Beatle/McCartney music. Band on the Run has already been reissued I thought..so what's new? Outtakes? I guess I'll find out.
Re: Paul McCartney to Reissue Wings Album "Band on the Run"
It's supposed to include One Hand Clapping tracks. IMO, it's worth it just for that. I've wanted to see an official release for that stuff for some time.scottpro1969 wrote:I'm always amazed that "someone" has different recordings/takes of Beatle/McCartney music. There's a chance McCArtney may do the entire album live - at least he's considering it...
Re: Paul McCartney to Reissue Wings Album "Band on the Run"
My friend and I were just discussing that he could do Band on the Run live just like Brian Wilson did with Pet Sounds and Smile. It would be interesting to hear him sing "No Words." It could be a tough one for him. I'd buy tickets to see him perfomt this live.bottom4 wrote:There's a chance McCArtney may do the entire album live - at least he's considering it...
Where did you see he was considering it?
Re: Paul McCartney to Reissue Wings Album "Band on the Run"
On MaccaReport, Brian... He could bring out Denny for that part of the show...
Re: Paul McCartney to Reissue Wings Album "Band on the Run"
Brian, in the interview with Clash mag...

Did anyone purchase the Deluxe Version? What are your impressions of this?
