Re: My model bass
I miss my Zon fretless 5. Beautiful basses !
It's too early in the morning to talk about our relationship !
Re: My model bass
An S model in non-yellowish BBR with a neckwidth at the nut smaller than 4 cm would suit me fine.

Re: My model bass
Besides my idea of the 4004Cii with maple/walnut/maple "S" body wings, I also think about a 4381 (381V69 bass guitar).
JETGLO should officially be renamed JETGLO ROCKS!
Re: My model bass
A 4003 in AutumnGlo with checkered binding, black PG (no hump, please) and TRC, 2 piece neck, toaster at 1/2" and a horsie. Maybe dots on the neck if the boys find a nice hunk of lumber.
OK, now I can wake up.

Re: My model bass
I used to be full of "custom Ric" dreams but now I'm convinced the stock 4003 is pretty close to perfect as it is.
Re: My model bass
Though only a few months old, the bass already is playing extremely well. It has a beautiful, rich and very powerful tone from the low register to the high. I am amazed at the ease of response of this instrument!
Re: My model bass
This would never work, I'd be completely unable to decide between Rootbeerburst and Jetglo. Then again, if I sold my car and worked from home .... maybe.teb wrote:I think I'd go this way. Hollow, short scale, checkerboard, maybe twin toasters, crushed pearl if fretted, no dots or anything on the fingerboard if fretless, stereo-wired.
Seriously, unless the cost were well beyond a 4003 I'd promise to buy one of these right now if that's what it took to start the production line moving.
Re: My model bass
firstly,RON-beautiful bass, man! 4001s? or 4003s? gorgeous blue. MARC-my taste has veered toward the more simple for a while, and i have really loved working to make my 4000 one of the best basses i have ever owned. i hardly ever touch the volume knob (full up always),but don't think i could do without my tone pot,as i change that up quite a bit. i used to think i wanted a horseshoe for that bass (mostly for the look),but have come to realize what a great sounding pickup the '74 hi-gain is. with the hipshot bridge,it is similar to the type of bridge(s) the factory equips 4004's with, inasmuch as it couples directly to the wood of the body. i guess even though it looks standard enough,my 4000 has become my custom model. (mods include new heavier fretwire, antler nut, shielding in cavity,hs aluminum bridge)
now about that color....i really would like a fiesta red (like a deep coral) on my 4000....ain't gonna happen tho

Re: My model bass
My 4001S-LH, after my band breaks up and I have the "MMT" finish removed and the bass painted white, but, since we've been together since 1992 I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Re: My model bass
Woody, it's a 1996 4003S. It started life as Mapleglo, but I've always wanted a Rick bass in a clear blue finish, and our favorite curmudgeon Paul W. was more than happy to oblige. I don't have it home yet, but Paul is putting the finishing touches on it. I have a feeling that my V63 is going to be a little lonely...
