Bridge Pickup screws...OUCH!!!
Hey RICers,
So I play my 4003 with a pick sometimes and attack it like the punk rocker I can sometimes be. I have noticed that when I am going at it, the side of my hand facing the bass gets chewed up a bit by the bridge pickup screw on the left. I have considered getting replacement screws that are flat on top, but am worried the bottom of the screw head won't sit flush against the bridge pickup surround and I could still get snagged. I guess I could look for some felt or rubber washers to deal with the latter problem.
Anyone else had this issue? If so, what have you done to fix it? Also, anyone know of the screw dimensions off the top of their head?
Thanks,
LEL

I'd just cut a couple mm's off the bottom of the screws until the top is flush with the bridge when adjusted to your preferred height. Don't worry, you can always get replacement screws for $1 from RIC.

I think he's talking about the bridge PICKUP adjustment screw, not the bridge HEIGHT screw, right?

Thanks for asking for clarification Bassduke:
They are the two BIG screws on either side of the bridge pickup surround in the center. They are the ones parallel with the pickup pole pieces.
Sorry for the confusion,
LEL

Wow, I've never heard of this. Does it look weird--can you take pics? If it's a sharp edge you can polish it smooth (Scott can do this).
Screw dimensions are listed in the boutique on the RIC site.

Maybe do the punk/grunge thing and put Duckedtape® over it.

Re: Bridge Pickup screws...OUCH!!!
The issue is that the slot on the head of the screw is a bit jagged. Not sure if it was bad manufacturing or someone at the factory got too excited with their screwdriver. I suppose a gentle filing would fix it fine. Leave it to me to make a moutain out of a molehill!
Anyway, thanks for the replies,
LEL

I was thinking something along these lines... but is 'duck' a verb and can you get 'ducked'?jps wrote:Maybe do the punk/grunge thing and put Duckedtape® over it.

I would take some fine sandpaper to the edges of the slots.
All I wanna do is rock!

Hmmm....methinks he missed the obscure Marx Bros reference....
How about...
A duck walks into a bar and orders a beer, barkeep asks if he wants to run a tab...
...duck says "nah, put it on my bill" (groan)
That's all I got.
