Where does that put me on the forum geek scale?

Paul, certainly within the top 5 percent!

Ben, I know nothing about finishing guitars, but I do know that everybody else offers white, so it must be doable. Is there anything about the process at RIC that's different?

BTW if you end up doing white, it doesn't have to be BT. White/chrome would be great. The best would be doing it like in the 70's - black plastic (inc. binding), chrome hardware.

This one-off will probably sell for $4K+. Maybe one day I'll just get a decent 4003 and have Paul W refinish it in white, route the body for 1/2" spacing, and have Tony Dudzik make a 70's contour pickguard like the Ric Outlet bass.

Really cool--one of the better "One-Offs". I don't see the neck pickup as crooked, or at least the poles line up like they ought to. Half-inch spacing and a Hi-Gain has to be a bit different.

Anyone generous enough to purchase this for me and, in return, I'll name my first born after you?

Careful! you could end up calling your daughter "Roger Ramsbottom" or someother unfortunate name...

This is one of the more simple special instruments from Rickenbacker but that does not detract from its class..

I suspect that the 1/2" spacing combined with new Higains will give this bass a big but somewhat "agro" sound....

Well, they say that children with unusual names grow up to be strong individuals. I guess she'll have to bear that cross for daddy to have a sweet one-off Ric.

1/2" spacing and a hi-gain pickup isn't that rare or highly unusual. Late 73's and all 74's had hi-gains at 1/2" from the neck.

Does anyone have a white/white/chrome bass? I'd like to see that, cause someday I might have my 4003 re finished in that way.

Here's Gary's 4003 White WT. My camera went snow blind, I think. All the highlights are overwhelming the photo.

A quick search of the register has found this beauty - 1972 White/WT with checkerboard binding (missing pickup surround...):

For sure, but these were the 7.5 to 8Kohmish 70s pickups (which had their own sound) Now fitted with 12kohmish adjustable pole pickups it's going to be a different sound. I recon it will sound.... kind of "Broad"

Ilan, I'm pretty sure those are Gary Clauson's, the 4003 also in my shot.

White on white is very, very nice. A 4003S WT WT (having the dotted neck) would be sweet.
